Leo is committed to environmental protection and carbon reduction. In 2013, we participated in the CarbonSmart Program sponsored by the Environment and Conservation Fund of the Hong Kong Government. Apart from participation in the Carbon Audit Pilot Fund, we were also awarded as a CarbonSmart Low-Carbon Commitment Partner. Our Director, Mr. King Lai, represented Leo and received the awards during the ceremony held on October 30, 2013.
The CarbonSmart Program was organized by the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) in collaboration with the Federation of Hong Kong Industries (FHKI), Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce (HKGCC) and Business Environment Council (BEC). The Program aims to encourage industrial participation in carbon audit and reduction, to help shape Hong Kong into a low carbon city.
During the program, Leo implemented a series of carbon reduction activities. Carbon measurement and accounting was conducted on our headquarter office by a qualified audit firm. Following the carbon audit report, further improvement and refinement measures were implemented. Apart from continuous carbon reduction efforts, we are also dedicated to sharing our environmental philosophy and experience with other parties. Our participation in the program also helps to establish a local repository of Carbon Footprint information for local businesses. Enterprises in Hong Kong can evaluate their carbon management performance by inputting their carbon measurement data to the system/repository, and conduct corresponding improvements.
Leo’s participation in the CarbonSmart Program not only provides us an opportunity to further improve our environmental performance, but also promotes carbon reduction by local business in Hong Kong. The commitment of our top management team and participation of each Leonian are the key successful factors of this program. We believe that all Leonians will continue to strive for improvements of Green Harmony®, so as to contribute to the sustainable development of the earth.
