The Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency (HKQAA), which is an independent conformity assessment body established by the Hong Kong Government Industry Department in 1989, has recently announced the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Index result for 2015. The presentation ceremony was held on May 13, 2016. This year, a total of 698 companies, distributing in different sectors, participated in the HKQAA CSR Index.
In the 2015 CSR assessment, Leo scored 87.3 out of 100, rating the highest mark in the Industrial Sector for two consecutive years. We have far out-performed our counterparts in the region whose average score was 46.3 out of 100. Our performance has also improved compared with the previous year’s result, when we scored 80.1. As the report indicated, over the past year, we demonstrated a strong emphasis on community involvement and development, continuously pursuing efforts to improve the performance of fair operating practices, environmental responsibility, and human rights.
HKQAA launched the CSR Index benchmarking scheme in 2008 to provide quantitative metrics for measuring an organization’s social responsibility practices. The assessment covers 7 core subjects, namely Organizational Governance, Human Rights, Labor Practices, The Environment, Fair Operating Practices, Consumer Issues, and Community Involvement and Development.
We have been participating in this annual benchmarking scheme voluntarily. Looking forward, we will continue to participate in a number of social and environmental programs.
