Being in the top 70% of qualified Wal-Mart suppliers in China, it is our honor to be selected by Wal-Mart as one of two participants in the Supplier Energy Efficiency Program (SEEP) in China in 2015. After a series of reports and on-site factory assessments of 200+ participating suppliers held earlier this year, The Sustainability Consortium (TSC), a group of third-party engineering experts assigned by Wal-Mart, selected Leo based on our impressive environmental conservation philosophy, efforts and initiatives, as well as the mindset and behavior of our staff and workers. The program began in March.
In 2008, Wal-Mart launched the Supplier Energy Efficiency Program (SEEP), aligning its environmental sustainability commitment and goal to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from its products' life-cycles and supply chains. Wal-Mart helped expand The Sustainability Consortium (TSC), providing more resources to help suppliers become more sustainable.
Participating in SEEP provides a valuable opportunity for Leo to learn from Wal-Mart’s own experience with energy efficiency projects, and to identify and implement energy saving measures and improvements at our Heshan factory.
Under the guidance of Wal-Mart/ TSC energy experts, we:
• arranged three specific training sessions for top management, senior management,
managers, and technicians at our Heshan factory
• continue monitoring critical energy reference data of our high-energy-use facilities
in order to identify energy saving opportunities
• implemented various energy saving and efficiency enhancement projects
All of these measures not only benefit Leo and Wal-Mart, but also our clients and the environment by:
• reducing GHG emissions
• enhancing energy efficiency
• help lowering long-term operating costs
• conserving the environment
• supporting Wal-mart’s drive towards sustainability along its global supply chains
(Wal-Mart’s purchase policy is inclined to adopt qualified suppliers/factories with
outstanding performances in the SEEP)
In the meantime, we will keep you informed and updated on our progress, along with upcoming sustainability initiatives.
